4 Tips To Prolong Your Summer Tan

We all want to keep our tanned skin for as long as possible after a holiday and while tans do have a tendency to fade, there are a few steps you can include in your daily routine to help you prolong your tan. With these summer beauty tips, you’ll be rocking your bronzed and glowing skin come wintertime.

1. Moisturise - While moisturizing should already be a fundamental step in your skincare routine, it is even more important when you have glowing summer skin. To lock in moisture (and your tan), we suggest swapping out your normal body lotion for a luxurious body butter such as Neutrogena’s Nourishing Body Balm with Nordic Berry.

2. Indulge in a body oil - Sometimes, nothing can nourish your skin quite like a body oil! We all love a good tan, but the reality is that prolonged exposure to the sun causes the skin to lose a significant amount of moisture. Daily use of a nourishing body oil (especially after a bath) will give your skin a boost of instant hydration. For a real treat, we suggest The Body Shop Coconut Beautifying Oil. Not only does it provide hydration, but it also has a shimmering finish and a summer-worthy tropical coconut scent.

3. Exfoliate - One of the best beauty tips both for beautiful skin and for prolonging a tan, is exfoliating. You may be thinking; I exfoliated before my holiday, so do I need to do it afterwards? The answer is YES. Exfoliating after you have tanned will remove dead skin cells and reveal smoother, glowing skin. A key tip to remember is to not over exfoliate and irritate your skin, so once a week will suffice. Why not try the St. Ives Invigorating All Over Body Scrub for smooth, radiant skin?

4. Stay hydrated - One of the best beauty tips to remember is that what you put in your body is just as important as what you put on your body. Drinking sufficient water will not only improve the appearance of your skin, but it will also hydrate your skin resulting in a longer lasting tan!
