Why I Ran An Electrical Current Through My Face In The Quest For Youth

As this is my birthday month, it’s a great opportunity for me to get together with all my loved ones under one roof. However, at the same time I don’t enjoy every aspect of getting older - mainly because I don’t like the idea of my metabolism slowing down with age and the thought of having to curb my birthday cake consumption does not especially appeal.

In order for me to perk up for my birthday weekend (and no I won’t be sharing my age because I would rather imagine that I am still in my late 20's), I decided to get a facial, but not just any facial. I wanted to get THE facial. A facial that would tone up my loosening facial muscles and keep the youthful glow but most importantly clean up my skin as I often try so many different products it can react badly, it is in dire need of some TLC.

The London facialist who has essentially got celebrity status in the skincare world and is otherwise known as London’s micro-current queen. If not, then read up fast, because if you are ever looking for a facial then she is definitely one to book in with.

I went ahead and booked in an appointment with Chelseé for the Le Ultra Visage £172 facial combined with her own signature facial that lasts 2 hours and 15 mins!

If you are anything like me, then you might be wondering how can a facial last over 2 hours, right? Well…

These unique facials that are tailor made for each client's specific skincare needs. The facial is a deep cleansing treatment with a micro peel that helps to balance, speed up skin renewal, even skin tone and soften lines and wrinkles. Then you are treated to a luxurious facial massage. This is a hugely important part of the facial as it detoxifies and also brings oxygen and nutrients to the skin. The massage is aimed at pressure points alongside the photo drainage massage that caters for overall, general well-being.

Chelseé started off by a through analysis of my skin (no pore was left un-turned) to decide upon what my skincare needs were and what products suited me the most. Then a deep cleansing treatment with a micro peel was prescribed to help to speed up skin renewal and brightening the skin tone. The Yonka products used, were deliciously soothing and the aromatherapy benefits only aided my state of deep relaxation further. and followed on by a gentle pressure point massage around the face and neck and then used the lymph drainage technique to detoxify the skin and bring oxygen and nutrients to the skin.

After stage one, or Chelseé’s signature facial, the treatment was continued with the CACI Ultra machine, if it’s good enough for J-Lo then I’ll definitely give it a go. The CACI system utilises a special ultrasonic handset that vibrates at a whopping 27,000 vibrations per second on the skin surface to exfoliate and deep cleanse the epidermis.This microcurrent is moved over your entire face to stimulate your 32 facial muscles back into action. Sounds horrendous, but in fact it was completely bearable, if a little prickly at times on the more sensitive (or perhaps lazy?) muscles, but not in a painful way. Then, as I am not into dermal fillers, which are an option here is your prefer, we instead plumped the skin and softened any deep lines with the Ultra machine’s “comb applicator” which is also combined with LED light. LED light therapy (blue light) helps with healing sensitive skin, rosacea and removes bacteria. The red light helps with uneven skin tone (which I am always keen about as I am of Indian origin and we are prone to uneven skin tones, especially dark circles) and natural collagen renewal. After 40 minutes of this it became almost hypnotic and I really felt like my muscles were being engaged and jumping back into action.

The results spoke for themselves, post facial my skin tone looked more even, brighter and the puffiness had completely disappeared. I emerged sleeker and radiant and will most definitely be going back next month for a top up.
