Emily Blunt loves hair masks to repair her hair from colouring.
That’s not to say there aren’t other great hair products out there, it’s just our tip for good hair care to incorporate a homemade hair mask into your routine once in a while. It also saves the pennies and is fun! Remember to discover beauty products to suit you by creating your own beauty profile.
1) Honey and milk
One of easiest homemade hair masks to whip up is the milk and honey mask. Just pour a glass full of milk and mix in 2 teaspoons of honey. Add a teaspoon of flour if you use low fat milk to thicken the mixture. Apply to hair, massaging from the roots to ends and leave this on for 15 minutes. Rinse off with warm water afterwards and shampoo (so you don’t attract too much wildlife with honey hair). This will leave hair beautifully soft and is perfect for damaged hair.
2) Banana and avocado
Another super hydrating face mask is the banana and avocado mask. It doesn’t sound too appetising but bare with us. You will need a banana, an egg, half an avocado, 2 tablespoons of honey, 3 tablespoons of buttermilk and 3 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil. Mix the banana, egg and avocado together in a bowl, then stir in the rest of the ingredients. Apply on all the hair and leave for 30 minutes. Shampoo as normal afterwards.
3) Egg and rum
If you are looking for ways to make hair shinier, this next mask is perfect. Caudalie skin care line co-founder, Mathilde Thomas, says this mask makes her hair so glossy and polished. You will need an egg yolk, 2 tablespoons of rum, 2 tablespoons of olive oil and 2 tablespoons of grapeseed oil. Mix everything together and apply to the hair. Wrap your head in a warm towel (put your towel on the radiator in advance) and leave for 30 minutes. Then you know the drill, rinse and wash with shampoo.
When it comes to tips for good hair care, we would advise using a homemade hair mask around once a week for the best results. Ways to make hair shinier could not be easier with these super hydrating hair masks, so take your pick or experiment yourself!
