As fairly proactive women, always looking out for what’s best for us whilst managing a busy life at home and work, we wish anti-ageing regimes would be as simple as they were when we were 20, when all we had to do was take our makeup off!

Moreover, with anti-ageing products often under delivering on their inflated promises, it begs to ask the question, what actually works when it comes to preventing fine lines, wrinkles, dry skin and more? Are we just buying into beautiful advertising?

Well, sometimes yes and that is why we asked some top wellness experts for their top anti-ageing advice that actually works. Here’s what they say.

Moisturise like crazy! “Remember, the best defence is a good offence,” says Bill Baked founder of Consonant Skincare. “Skin that is hydrated and plump won’t develop the same fine lines and wrinkles as skin that is dry and dehydrated. And for truly effective, persistent hydration that penetrates to the deeper layers of your skin, choose a moisturiser without petrolatum, mineral oil or silicone ingredients.”

Clean eating is simple eating “Specifically, eat foods that don’t have a long list of ingredients, and try eating better foods such as vegetables, fruit, meat and some nuts,” says Jordan Symonds, Head Coach at Reebok Crossfit. “Drink plenty of water and take an omega-3 fish oil and a multivitamin to help combat free radicals (the particles that age your skin and body).”

Makeup ages young girls just like it does you “One of the best ways to look a little younger and fresher is to lighten up on your makeup,” suggests Simone Otis, Beauty Consultant at Joe Fresh. “Use a primer and a tinted moisturiser instead of a heavy foundation. A tinted moisturiser won’t accentuate fine lines and wrinkles. Lightly blend translucent loose powder overtop to set.”
