THIS Is Why Stretch Marks Are Not The End Of The World

Stubborn stretch marks have got to be one of the toughest beauty flaws to fade overtime, generally accompanied with the arrival of a new baby or the story of behind a curvier frame, they are something which should be embraced with celebration yet there prominent appearance can often deflate the excitement of summer and question our self confidence all together.
As a proficient pre - holiday dieter I have been known to become a little over carried away with following every detox and exercise plan I can find 3 months prior to a holiday. A few years ago in fact I spent a ridiculous amount on a certain herbal tea and juice detox brand 4 weeks prior to my holiday, 12 headaches later I was toxin and water retention free and had lost half a stone in just 1 month which was great whilst I was still at home and had reached my goal weight, but with my new found weight loss came a huge price to pay when I arrived at a 5 star all - inclusive resort with mouth watering food everywhere I looked.
My pre holiday diet immediately found itself thrown out the window with a replacement of with a ridiculous amounts of ice cream, alcohol and carbs and to make matters worse the floaty tan defining dress I had so desperately wanted to wear on the last evening of my holiday wouldn’t zip up.
Over the next year my weight continued to yo - yo and with it came the ultimate price of stretch mark city, 6 years on I'm still a stretch mark owner, yet my streaky brown lines have subsequently become fainter in colour and quite honestly a quirky imperfection I'm proud to own.
Reason 1: Stretch Marks Make You Human
Point me in the direction of a fellow holiday maker who doesn't own any stretch marks and I think I’d be in a severe case of shock and asking myself numerous times how it is humanly possible for a person to be extinct from them. Stretch marks tell a tale of strength and show that your body is not afraid to show its powerfulness.
Reason 2: Chrissy Teigen Embraces Her Stretch Marks And So Should You
In an Instagram post from 2015 Chrissy Teigen bared her inner thigh stretch marks to the world after sharing a post to originally showcase a group of bruises she had endured. Captioning the image as: “Bruises from bumping kitchen drawer handles for a week. Stretchies say hi!” her photo was immediately flooded with positive comments.
Discussing her reason to share the image and address her stretch marks Chrissy explained: I was actually just taking a picture of the bruises and then I saw the stretch marks in there, and I have those apps, the Facetune and Photoshopping ones, and I just didn't feel like doing it anymore - and I’m never doing it again, because I think we forget what normal people look like now.”
Reason 3: They Will Reduce Over Time
Stretch Marks are such a commonly recognised beauty flaw that no matter the size, shape or colour we are all in the same boat together.
